Second Half Push Help Lakers Advance
The Midget Rep Lakers came thru with a big push in the second half of their WOAA League Playoffs, going 2-1-1 in the final four games of the initial round robin. As a result, the league has advanced the Lakers to the Twolan Championship round robin with Ripley, Bruce Peninsula, and Saugeen Shores AE. Again this round robin will be a home and home with each team, six game total. Following is a summary of the four games that made up the second half of the last series.

Feb. 24th
The Lakers where at home with the visiting TCDMHA Rebels. This was an awesome high tempo game, but unfortunately would get called just 6:01 into the second period by the arena management. The stanchion holding the glass in place broke, and it was deemed unsafe to complete the game. Therefore, this game will go in the books as a 1-1 tie.
Kyler Jones would open the scoring on the power play 3:08 into the first with a shot from the point. Brett Datema replied for the Rebels 1:34 into the second. Jed Nuttall was excellent in net when asked upon to take the start.

This would be the only game dropped in the second half. The Lakers went to Tara to take on the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs, and came up short with a 4-2 loss. It was a game with out a lot of flow on a pretty small ice surface. However, the Ice Dogs would capitalize on their chances around the net. Dakota Simkins scored for the Lakers just a 1:51 into the second to tie the game at one, but the Ice Dogs took a 3-1 lead to the third. Some desperation led to most of the third period in the Ice Dogs end of the ice, and Aiden Barfoot notched a goal with 5:16 left in the game, but the Ice dogs would add an empty net goal.
Scoring for Arran-Elderslie was Clark Gregg, Brock Tanner, Wyatt Borton, and Calvin Robinsin.
Feb. 21st
The Lakers came out flying on this Monday night game at home, shutting down the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs, and claiming a 5-1 victory. Mitch Donais open the scoring with 33 seconds left in the first. The lakers would open the game up in the second with three more consecutive goals from Connor Kelly, Ernie MacDonnell, and Aiden Barfoot.
Caden Benninger would score the lone goal for the Dogs 10:53 into the third, and the Lakers would add an empty net goal from Barfoot.
Feb. 20th
A very determined Lakers squad came into Walkerton on this Sunday afternoon to open the final half of the round robin!! The forecheck and defence was fantastic, pushing the Lakers to a 3-2 overtime win over the Walkerton Capitals.
The Lakers would jump to a 2-0 lead with goals from Ian Klages and Dan McIvor, both in the second period. However, a sluggish start to the third would let the Capitals tie the game on goals from Paul Gill and Colton Louther.
Cole Ouwendyk would score a very big goal for the Lakers 4 minutes and 12 seconds into overtime, to clinch the most important two points of the round robin for his team.
Good Luck Lakers In Your Next Round Robin Series!!!!!!!
