Midgets - WOAA Group Playdown Champions!!!!!
The Midget Rep Lakers won a thrilling game last night against the visiting Bruce Peninsula Wild, to clinch the "Lockridge Championship'" in the WOAA group playdowns. The 3-2 overtime win gave the Lakers their third straight victory against the Wild, and locked in the group championship.

I am sure you could cut the tension with a knife before last night's game, and both teams started the game with a ton of determination! The first period saw a lot of fast paced, but somewhat tentative play. With only 1:06 left in the first frame, Kory Brady stormed out of his own end and rifled one past the Wild netminder.

The Wild would answer back just 3:54 into the second with a goal from Grayham Santini, to notch the affair at one. After three consecutive Lakers penalties throughout the second, the Wild would notch a power play goal from Graeme George, with just 1:37 left before the flood. This would send the boys to the dressing rooms with the Wild leading 2-1.

Things would open up in a penalty free third, with some fast and furious action. David Whyte made some spectacular saves, but it would be Dan McIvor who would tie this game up 2-2 at the 7:19 mark of the third.
To top it off, this game would see overtime!! Just 40 seconds in, the McIvor-MacDonnell-Simkins trio would get a cycle working in deep, and Liam McIvor would bang home a rebound, and the game winner!!!!

What a great way to finish the season Lakers!!!

Congratulations on your Championship Lakers!!!
