Lakers Win on the Road Against Rebels
Two "DD" rivals faced off for their last league meeting of the year last night in Chatsworth. There was no lack of tempo to this game, short shifts where definitely crucial, and the Lakers huge effort paid off with a 6-3 victory over the Rebels.

Evident of the speed throughout this game, was the type of penalties taken. Chatsworth where penalized 5 times, and the Lakers only once, but every penalty taken was a stick infraction. That always means the speed of the game was fast!!
The first goal came 5:53 into the first period, when Liam McIvor batted a knee high clearing attempt out of the air just inside the blueline, and brought it right back in to finish the deal. Then with only 37 seconds left in the first, Riley Field would put the Lakers up by two when he ripped home a lose puck from the side of the net.
Jesse Fennell would score for the Rebels 20 seconds into the second, that closed the gap to one.
The Lakers D-man Cole Ouwendyk would then pinch into the slot on the power play, and blast one by Rebels goalie Jonathon Horton at the 5:32 mark of the second. This opened the lead back up to 3-1.
Once again, the Rebels would close the gap 8:16 into the second, when Kevin Ireton took advantage of the Rebels only power play of the game, and closed the score to 3-1.
The Lakers weren't done yet, 2 minutes and 28 seconds later they too would provide another power play goal before the flood. However, the game sheet was wrong on this goal as it had MacDonnell, but we know he took the original shot and a Lakers winger was positioned perfectly to snap home the rebound. That sent the lakers to the dressing room with a 4-2 lead.
The Rebels would take a penalty 1 minute and 33 seconds into the third, and 20 seconds later Ernie MacDonnell would make them pay with a goal in tight. This was followed up 30 seconds later, when Dan McIvor would put the Lakers up by 4, and a commanding 6-2 lead.
The Rebels would then pepper Lakers goalie David Whyte, but he stood tall. The only remaining goal came on a broken play as the Lakers tried to move it out from behind their own net, and Nick Bruce made no mistake making the Lakers pay for the turn over at 6:26. This would finish the scoring, and the Lakers would hold on to a 6-3 win.
Just a fast, hard hitting game by both teams, but the Lakers dug deep while missing three regulars from the team due to injury and such. Connor Kelly, Jordan Proctor, and Aiden Barfoot where absent from the line up, and AP's Jeremy Finlayson, and Jonathan Beaton stepped up large.
