Thursday Night Barn Burner at the Lake
The Lakers where host to the Bruce Peninsula squad last night, which always provides an intense hockey atmosphere! These two teams skated to a 2-2 tie, in a action packed game, that only had one penalty called the entire 40 minutes.

The parents and fans where treated to an all around excellent hockey game. Lot's of end to end rushing, some nice passing plays, good clean hits, and great goaltending. The Lakers did have a two goal lead in the third, but the Bruce Peninsula Wild gambled late in the game with some offensive stretch, that paid off to tie the game.
The goaltending was very good at both ends, but David Whyte had one of his best performances of the year for the Lakers.
After a scoreless first period, the Lakers opened the scoring with 3:33 left in the second period. Dan McIvor beat the Wild's netminder on the fly, as he entered their zone. That was the only goal before the flood.
The fast pace picked back up in the third, right where it left off. A nifty three way passing play, resulted with Liam McIvor knocking the water bottle off the Wild's net at the 3:31 mark. This put the Lakers up 2-0. The Lakers lost centre Connor Kelly to injury around this point of the period, when he went into the boards awkwardly.
The only penalty of the game was called 5:34 into the third, and 22 seconds later CJ Arthur was able to beat Whyte to close the gap to one.
In the dying seconds, when it appeared the Lakers had the Wild hemmed in, Michael Martindale received the puck all alone at centre ice, which he would convert with 54 seconds left in the game.
Not a great feeling when a lead is surrendered, but that was a great effort Lakers!!
