A "Career" Hat Trick for Spencer!
Our resident provider of music and pre-game pump ups got what he deserved and more in today's game against the Saugeen Shores Storm, leading his team to a 9-2 victory!  Congratulations Spencer on your first "career" hat trick!

Anyone who has had the pleasure of one or more conversations with Spencer will know that he researches what he does, looks to his teammates for their input, turns to his coaches for their experience and in the end, gets the job done!  He plays hockey with zest and determination and today was no different!

I think everyone will agree that today's game was off to a super slow start...however the game did progress well once we got going!

The first period saw a 1-1 tie after the first period with Spencer Davidson scoring unassisted and Quinn Fowler of Saugeen Shores scored the first of 2 goals, assisted by Liam Kelly.

The Lakers started to come alive in the 2nd period, with Jake Ross scoring 2 goals, both assisted by his Shake and Bake Teammate, Spencer.

An explosion of team effort in the 3rd period saw Spencer scoring his hat trick.  Assisting Spencer were Jake, Tyler McKee and Meghan Prentice.  An additional goal by Quinn Fowler, assisted by Braydon Kahgee gave the Storm their second and final goal.  Meghan's excellent player position netted her 2 goals, assisted by Bennett Lines and Andy Walker.  Jake added his third goal of the game with 1.5 minutes to go, assisted by Spencer and Meghan.

Sometimes a hockey game on paper does not always reflect the game played on the ice.  We had excellent skaters (yes, our team girls Ella Tiley and Meghan Prentice) were both amazing today!  I found myself commending each player at some point of the game for a well deserved pass, shot or back-check.  Lander Hartley played another outstanding game in net!  Congrats to the entire team on our first win of 2014!

NO ACT OF KINDNESS GOES UNNOTICED:

A huge thank you to Lisa Hartley for knitting Shallow Lake Lakers winter hats for the entire hockey team, complete with each individual players' jersey number.  What a wonderful surprise for our hockey players and a fantastic feeling of being connected while playing their most favourite sport!  You are the best!!
