Does Hockey Get any Better Than This?
The worry, the anticipation, the cheering, the encouragement, the sweat, the tireless determination, the endurance, and of course the thrill of the game could be words used to describe the always entertaining game against the Shallow Lake Atom #1 team on December 15, 2013.

I think every parent would agree that these rivals are entertaining and well worth the price of admission!!

Once again, there wasn't a quiet fan, friend or family member in the stands for this game!

The amazing thing about these close games between the two Shallow Lake Atom teams is that when you a score like 5-5 (as in this game's score) or a 2-1 or 3-2 score, it not only is the score that is close, it is the way that these teams reply when a goal is scored against them!  The scores reflect the reaction by each team to strive to be the team that goes ahead first!  What determination by each team!

It must be noted that with a final score of 5-5, all 10 goals were each assisted and 9 out of the 10 goals were assisted by two players.  Both teams should be very proud of the "team" effort and an outstanding showing from each of today's goalies - Lander Hartley and Oskar French-Jones!!

The scoring did not start until near the end of the 1st period, with Jake Ross scoring with the assist of his "Shake and Bake" teammate, Spencer Davidson.

Heading into the 2nd period with a narrow lead, both teams exploded with scoring opportunities within minutes of each other!  With 6 minutes to go in the period, Sam Standoloft (with the encouragement of his visiting grandparents!) scored with the assist of his defence teammates, Andy Walker and Tyler McKee.  If I can interpret the score sheet correctly (everyone keep their comments to a minimum please :), between Sam's goal and the end of the 2nd period, the Atom #1 team was led by Wyatt Hickson with a hat trick and Marcus Legnaro with a single goal.  Assists were credited to Quintin Cardinal, Zack Deakins and Jonathan Coffey. Jake Ross also added two more goals with assists by Spencer Davidson and Meghan Prentice.  That left the end of the 2nd period tied 4-4.

The third period showed Anderson Kivell scoring the lone goal for the Atom #1 team, assisted by Kaiden Henrich and Darryl Blair.  Scoring for our team was Jake Ross, assisted once again by his defence teammates, Tyler McKee and Andy Walker.

Congratulations to both teams on an amazing game and keeping us fans on the edge of our seats!  Can't wait until the next game!
