Peewee Rep Have Very Busy Weekend, Including a Consolation Championship
With some inspiring hockey it was quite a journey this past weekend for the Bruce Boivin State Farm Peewee Rep team.

Wow, it was quite a journey this past weekend for the Lakers squad, competing in 5 games over a 2 day period, which included 2 regular season games Saturday afternoon at home and then 3 games in tournament play in Ayton on Sunday, which resulted in a Consolation Championship with 3 straight wins.

Saturday's journey began at noon with a tilt against West Grey, and....."WHAT A TILT IT WAS"....with player after player swinging the gate of the sin bin, as this game saw 22 penalties called, including a successful penalty shot "very late" in the game for the opposition, giving West Grey a 4-3 lead.  As always the boys never quit, and rallied back with their goaltender pulled to tie up the score with 39.9 seconds left, resulting in a very hard fought 4-4 draw.

After a quick team lunch back at coach Jeff's house the team headed back to the rink for a 4:45 pm contest with TCDMHA.
As the legs were getting a little heavy the boys dug down and came out with a 5-3 victory, as 5 different goal scorers for the Lakers hit the game sheet.  An awesome team effort all the way through, with some great north/south play !

The following day the Lakers squad headed down to Ayton to take part in a tournament hosted by West Grey.  The Lakers much inspired play seem to carry through from Saturday as the teams work ethic from each and every player was 110%, resulting in a very successful day.  After defeating Creemore in game 1 by a score of 3-1 the boys carried that momentum into game 2 against Flesherton.  The Lakers held a 1-0 lead late in the 3rd before Flesherton would tie it up and send the game into OT.

With no scoring in the OT period the game went into a shootout, and it was then that Lakers shooters (Ethan Boivin, Kaleb Sutherland, Gavin Gibbons, Terran Hooey & Matthew Weiler) would all score with some nice dekes while Cameron Lessard was able to hold down the fort denying one of Flesherton's shooters to seal the deal for an exciting 2-1 victory.  However, it was a costly victory for the squad as their goaltender (Lessard) suffered a groin pull in the shootout before heading into game #3 for the day.

Even though the Lakers stood with a 2-0 record with 2 other teams they were relegated to the consolation final due to a plus/minus ruling.  Nonetheless, it was game on once again against Arran Elderslie, and the squads hard work paid off as they really came up big for their goaltender, walking away with a 3-2 win.

Hats off to the entire team, as the program they've been asked to follow is starting to pay dividends, playing some great 2 way hockey, creating good chances with some great passing and strong team play.

Special mention from this past weekend go out to Dylan Mole and Wesley Talon for finding the back of the net for the first time this season, CONGRATS BOYS !!!!
