"Everything but the kitchen sink" was the way in Elma Logan
It was "everything but the kitchen sink" this past weekend as the Peewee Reps took part in the Elma Logan tournament !!!
It was some of the tightest hockey the Lakers have faced this year as they played 3 games this past weekend in tournament play in Moncton, Ont. Not only did Lakers goalie Cameron Lessard stand on his head many times but so did the oppositions goaltenders as well. In the 3 games played over the 2 days the boys fired off nearly 100 shots towards opposing goalies, but the offense was stymied scoring only 5 times. Despite the lack of fire power the defense was stellar, allowing only 6 goals (plus an empty netter) in the 9 periods registered.
Game 1 saw a good battle with hometeam Elma Logan, the Lakers prevailing with a 3-2 score. Game 2 vs Thamesford was quite lopsided with the boys pounding 34 shots the other way, but just came up short with a 2-1 loss. Game 3 was yet another tight checking game, as the Leafs from Langton held on to a 2-1 lead, then scored an empty netter as the score clock read 0.0 seconds left.
Looking back though it was a weekend full of fun, as the group got to hang out as a team at the rink and back at the hotel.
The boys represented their home centre with dignity and pride, and really did play their hearts out all weekend long, making the coaching staff very proud of them !
