Peewee Rep tie/win in last 2 games
The Peewee Rep team played to a 5-5 draw with Hanover this past weekend and came away with a 2-1 victory last night in durham.
It was the Falcons from Hanover who flew into Laker land this past weekend hungry for a win, and before anyone woke up it was already 3-0 for Hanover after 1 period of play. THEN...the Lakers came alive with a great team effort scoring 5 straight times, and lead 5-3 halfway through the 3rd. However, it proved to be a real dog fight right to the end with both teams showing some real grit and determination, eventually ending up in a 5-5 draw.
The powerplay for the Lakers was really clicking on this day, tallying for 3 markers. Terran Hooey lead the way for Shallow Lake scoring 3 times, with Kaleb Sutherland and Jared Christie each netting one.
A few nights later the Lakers took a short road trip to Durham, facing off against West Grey. The boys put together a real strong game on this night, playing well in all 3 periods, creating some good offensive chances while playing strong on the defensive side. Gavin "sparky" Gibbons notched his first (Peewee) goal of the season, giving his squad an early 1-0 lead.
As each team traded chances in the 2nd frame it was West Grey that would strike next, sending the game into the 3rd period notted at a goal apiece. However, the Lakers defence stood strong, and Kaleb Sutherland was able to tuck one home in the goal mouth, giving his team a much deserved 2-1 victory.
A great team effort all the way through, from start to finish. Kudos to the boys on the back end starting with Cameron between the pipes, followed by Alex-Cole-Chris-Collin-Dylan standing solid on "D".
The Lakers now get ready to head in Moncton this upcoming weekend for the annual Elma Logan tournament. Good luck fellas !!!
