The Lakers got off to a good start Friday night, winning their opening game 4-2 against the host Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs. The tourney was a point system, and that left the Lakers with 4 points (out of a possible 5) after Game # 1.

Lakers goals came with Ernie MacDonnell with two, and singles from Cole Ouwendyk and Ryan Bisson. Jed Nuttall was fantastic in net, and was named the Lakers player of the game.

Zach Freiburger and Louis Gregg would reply for the Ice Dogs.

Game # 2 against the Flesherton Golden Hawks, would turn out to be a defensive gem. Unfortunately, everyone knew that only one team would move on to the final at the start of the third period, as with a 0-0 score, there were no points awarded to either team for the first two periods. Just when everyone was thinking 0-0 overtime, the Golden Hawks would take advantage of a very late penalty in the third, and Derrick Gibbons scored on the power play.

The Lakers had pressure on with the goalie on the bench, but Silas MacKinnon would squirt the puck out, and find the empty net for the Hawks and take a 2-0 victory.

The Hawks would move on, and win the championship game.
