Midgets Going to WOAA Championship
A convincing 7-1 victory Sunday afternoon by the Lakers, capped off a three game sweep of the visiting Essa Eagles. This playoff series win puts the Lakers into the WOAA Championship Series, also known as the OMHA Quarter Finals. The Lakers will wait for the winner of the Milverton and Lucknow series.

Essa was a formidable challenger, with really good goaltending. However, the Lakers are in playoff mode, and just seem to get better and better every game!! We have really good goaltending too. It really was a dominant effort yesterday, and there simply was no passengers!!!

Game # 1

The Lakers went to Angus for game one against Essa, on Wednesday February 1, and came away with a 4-2 win. It was a 2-2 game late in the third, and the Lakers went ahead 3-2. Before Essa could get their goaltender out, a relentless effort by the visitors helped grab a 4-2 lead with approx. 1 minute to go.  Ryan Bisson would score twice, and Ernie MacDonnell and Dakota Simkins would add singles.  Essa would get two on singles from Blair Bridge and Josh Kroeplin.

Game # 2

Back home the next night, Thursday, February 2.  The Lakers jumped out to a very early 4-0 lead less than 8 minutes in, and would round out the game with a 6-1 victory. The Lakers appeared to settle in at home, where they do have a 9-3 record this season, and never quit with the pressure.  Six different Lakers would make the score sheet. All with singles were Aiden Barfoot, Dakota Simkins, Cole Ouwendyk, Luke Heathers, Riley Field, and Aaron O'Reilly.  Essa's lone goal came from Taylor Hume.

Game # 3

These kids just keep finding another level!!! Probably the biggest effort of the season, the Lakers were dominant at the Shallow Lake Community Centre Sunday, February 5, and closed out the series sweep with a 7-1 victory. They just kept working, and finding a way to get it done. Apparently, this team wanted a crack at the WOAA final.  Kory Brady and Liam McIvor would each score twice. Jordan Proctor, Riley Field and Luke Heathers would add singles to round out the scoring.  Essa's lone goal came from Devon Jackson.

Good Luck Lakers in your next series!!!!!
