Lakers Win In Overtime
The Shouldice Designer Stone Shallow Lake Novice Rep team scored in Overtime to bring the WOAA Championship series to 2-1 against Walkerton.
It was a nail biting, exciting game on Thursday night in Shallow Lake. The kids skated and played hard against Walkerton but Walkerton was able to gain a lead on us by the second period with a score of 5-2. The Lakers again did not give up and one by one, scored against Walkerton to end the game with a 5-5 tie. Again, we went into overtime against them and fought with everything that the kids had in them. With 30 seconds left in overtime, Kirk Gibson scored the winning goal. Goalscorers for Shallow Lake was Ben Shouldice with a pair, Gavin Gibbons and Cole Dieter with a single as well as Kirk Gibson with a single during regular play. Jesse Cunningham stopped many of shots and keep us alive throughout this game. The Defence battled hard to keep the puck out of our end with the forwards and centremen pushing towards Walkertons net with several shots on net. The Lakers with go back to Walkerton for Game 4 on Sunday March 24th for 6:30 pm. Series is at 2-1 for Walkerton with best out of 5.
