It has been quite a ride this final series of playoffs against Walkerton. It came down to Game 5 to decide the winners, and with that being said The Shouldice Designer Stone Shallow Lake Novice Rep team conquered the OMHA Hodges Divison Championship.
It was a head to head battle on Monday evening at the Walkerton Arena. With 30 seconds into the first period, Riley Keip of Walkerton scored to lead the game 1-0. It wasn't until one minute into the second period when Kalum McKinnon of the Lakers was able to tie it 1-1. At almost the six minute mark, Walkerton's Adam Girdler scored. Lakers fought back hard to tie it up with a goal by Ben Shouldice. Kirk Gibson added another single for the Lakers leaving the second period at 3-2. Lakers stayed strong and battled each and every shift with Jesse Cunningham making amazing stops to keep the Lakers on top. Ben Shouldice scored with 5 minutes left in the third to advance our lead that much further to victory. Defense and offense played on to battle against a 6 man Walkerton team after they pulled their goalie at the one minute mark. Aidan Christie sealed the deal with a open net goal with 3 seconds left.
