Novice Rep 1-1 in Tourney
The Lakers Novice Rep team went 1-1 in the Paisley tournament on Saturday.
The Lakers faced Minto in their first game of the day coming away with a 7-3 win. Will Kazarian-Hodder had a hat trick and both Braiden Andrews and Matthew Weiler scored twice. Player of the game honours went to Will Kazarian-Hodder.
Into the semi-final against Hanover, where throughout the year these two teams have had great games against each other. Going in we knew it would be tight and probably another 1 goal game. The Lakers opened the scoring a goal by Gavin Gibbons assisted by Ben Shouldice and Braiden Andrews. It stayed 1-0 until 2:30 remaining in the 3rd period where an unfortunate bounce off of a Hanover player ended up behind Laker goalie Devin Scarr. Regulation time ended in a 1-1 tie, no surprise there. With no overtime, straight to a 3 player shootout. With the first 2 players from each team being stopped and the third Laker shooter also rejected by a strong Hanover goalie, left the third Hanover shooter who put a shot up under the bar that goalie Devin didn't really have a chance on. Player of the game awards went to both goalies Devin Scarr and Caden Prues, great goaltending! The Hanover Falcons went on to win the tourney defeating Goderich in a carbon copy shootout of the semi-final game, CONGRATULATIONS FALCONS!
Great job Lakers for a well fought battle, excellent effort, you should be proud of yourselves.
