Paris, Ontario

The Shallow Lake Novice Rep. team won the B Championship of the Rob Johnston Memorial Tournament in Paris over the weekend.  The final game against the hometown Paris team ended in regulation time a 1-1 tie.  A 3 on 3 then a 1 on 1 overtime decided nothing.  On to the shootout where 5 shooters from each side were chosen.  The first two Shallow Lake shooters Will Kazarian-Hodder & Braiden Andrews scored putting the pressure on the Paris shooters where goalie Devin Scarr shut the door on the first two.  The third Paris shooter scored leaving Shallow Lake only up by one goal.  With 2 shooters remaining on each side, the 4th Paris shooter was stopped & the 4th Laker shooter Cole Waddell put his trademark wrist shot in the top corner of the net sealing the win & championship for Shallow Lake!

In round robin play the Lakers dropped their first two games by one goal, which each game could have went either way.  The first game final score was Ingersoll 2 Shallow Lake 1.  The lone Laker goal was scored by Will Kazarian-Hodder.  The second game ended with Paris scoring 3 and Shallow Lake 2.  Laker goals scored by Braiden Andrews and Matthew Weiler.  The final game of the round robin saw Shallow Lake face a strong Ayr team.  The Lakers battled hard and going into the final period found themselves down by one goal 4-3.  The third period resulted in 4 Ayr goals and only 1 by Shallow Lake, final score Ayr 8 Shallow Lake 4.  Laker goals scored by Matthew Weiler with 2 and singles by Braiden Andrews and Will Kazarian-Hodder.

Although round robin play was not kind to the Lakers, as the tournament went on they got better and finished strong with the Hockey Gods on their side.  Thank you to all players and parents for making it a great weekend!
