TYKE #1, 2013-2014 (Shallow Lake Minor Hockey)

The Shallow Lake Tyke #1 team challenged the Wiarton Predators to a rematch early at the 2014 Tyke Funday.  While the scoreboard did indicate that wiarton recorded the win...in our hearts and minds the Lakers were the victors with amazing effort offensively, defensively and most importantly, between the pipes.  Brian wowed the crowd with incredible save after save.  Only 4 shots snuck by him.  The teaming of Owen Barfoot and Myles Cardinal resulted in our 2 goals for this game.  

Shallow Lake hosted Wiarton on Saturday morning, bright and early, and gave them an amazing game.  The Lakers played both ends of the rink with amazing shots on net, solid defence and absolutely stellar goaltending.  Wiarton was saved by a few offside calls on rushes where we knew our lakers were going to find the back of the net.  End sore was 3-2 for Wiarton. Goals by Myles Cardinal (assisted by Vaughan Coffey) and by Tanner Holmes. Goaltending by Brian Hummel (best moment of the game was the glove stop...well done, Brian!) The Shallow Lake Tyke #1 team fought hard, but came up short in a 10-3 loss against Bruce Peninsula in Wiarton on Sunday, February 16.  End to end action resulted in a multitude of shots by both teams.   Goals scored by Owen Barfoot (2) and Grayden McKnight (1). Assists by Alisa Christie (3), Jonah Shouldice (1) and Ty Siekierzyki (1) Goaltending duties were shared this game, and all kids put forth their best effort.  Wonderful effort from these hardworking players.

On Sunday, the Owen Sound Attack Tykes came out to challenge the Shallow Lake Tyke #1 team.  With home ice advantage the Lakers were able to hold the Attack to a 2-2 tie.  It was our first introduction to offside and icing, and we had very few whistles.  Incredible defensive play helped our goalie keep us in this game. Goal Scorers were Graydon (unassisted) and Tanner (assisted by Alisa and Brian). Owen Sound goals by #15 and #9 (assists by #12, 9 and 5). Incredible effort, kids.  Keep up the good work and enthusiasm!

The Shallow Lake Valumart Tyke #1 came up against the TCDMHA Rebels on Sunday and came out on top with a 13-1 win. With passing and solid puck-handling, the action was kept in their end.  Owen, Alisa, and Tanner all scored hat tricks, Myles with a pair and Vaughan and Jesse each added a single.  Assists were earned by Vaughan, Alisa, Jesse, Tanner, Owen, Myles and Brian.  Goal-tending duties by Jonah. Wonderful job, tykes!  Keep up the good teamwork!
