United yet Divided, and a couple of Christmas ties???
Your Lakers faced off against our friends, Shallow Lake LL#1, twice over the holidays. The action was intense as both games ended in a tie!
On Dec 22 we played in front of an enthusiastic full house crowd. Both teams played extremely well. It was very exciting to play against our friends and former teammates and everyone was standing awaiting the first goal. Those goals would have to wait as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
After a little rest and a fun Christmas practice we faced off with our friends again on Dec 30. Another nailbiter! The LL#1 team opened the scoring and held on to a 1-0 lead going into the 2nd period when Darryl B answered with a breakaway goal and tied it up in the 2nd. Your Lakers kept up the pressure in the 3rd and took the lead with a beauty goal from Jarrod F assisted by Jessica D and Oskar F. We held the lead until the end of the period when the LL#1 team scored with 46 seconds left on the clock to tie it up.
Very exciting for everyone to watch the games among our friends and former teammates. In the end no one could have imagined the teams could have been so well divided back in October. Both teams are very strong and these teams are the the 2 top teams in their WOAA division!
Great effort from everyone! The coaches and parents are very proud of every single player! A couple of Christmas ties has made us very thirsty for the win. We face off against the LL#1 squad again in a final meeting of the regular seaon on Sunday, Jan 6, @ 5PM.
