Remember! No Ref, No Game!
As we enter Playoffs, Shallow Lake Minor Hockey would like to remind everyone that No Ref, No Game!
If you think you could do a better job, take the ref clinic, strap on your skates, grab your whistle and give it a try!
Remember our kids can't play without refs, let's treat them with respect.
Those kids you're yelling and screaming at, are just that! KIDS. We do have a few adult refs; they also don't deserve to be treated that way. They are the only reason your child is safe on the ice and can play the game they love.
Let's show them the respect they deserve, next time you feel the need to yell at the refs, take a step back, take a deep breath and remember they don't have 360-degree vision and missing a few things is bound to happen. They might occasionally miss that slash or interference call because they were watching where the puck was headed. They might have seen a different angle then you did, you saw a check from behind, but they saw a boarding or vice versa.
At the end of the day, it's their call that is final and we all need to respect that. They are doing what they can with what they are given, and Shallow Lake Minor Hockey is so glad they grab that whistle and get out on the ice weekend after weekend to freeze so our kids can play the sport they love so dearly.
Thank you to each and every ref we have in Shallow Lake Minor Hockey
