Congratulations to the U13 Rep Shallow Lake Lakers who took home the Tier 3 OMHA Championship last weekend in Windsor!
The tournament kicked off with a 6-0 win over the East Lambton Eagles. Will Robertson led the way with a hat trick, while Deegan Bermaschlager scored a pair of goals and Cayleb Luckhardt added another. Trent Bryan kept the Eagles off the scoreboard with a shutout.
Next up was a tight battle against the Douro Dukes, with the Lakers victorious by a score of 1-0. Gavin Dorion scored the winning goal with Bryan blanking the Dukes.
Their final round robin game saw them take on the Essa Eagles, winning by a score of 4-1, with goals from Zach Cosgrove, Davis Roebuck, Bermanschlager and Robertson.
Onto the semifinals for the Lakers, facing a familiar foe - the Mount Forest Patriots. Fresh off their WOAA Championship win over the Patriots, the Lakers were ready to capitalize, rushing out to a quick 3-1 lead heading into the third, with goals from Jake Dangerfield Fudge, Bermanschlager and Roebuck. But the Patriots were not going down without a fight, scoring three straight goals in the third to take a 4-3 lead. The Lakers were just over a minute away from being eliminated until Robertson put home the tying goal, sending the game to overtime. With the finals on the line, Bermaschlager put home the OT winner, taking the game 5-4 and sending the Lakers to the OMHA Championship game.
The finals pitted the Lakers against their earlier round robin matchup - the Essa Eagles. Again, the Lakers got out to a quick, two-goal lead, with markers from Roebuck and Dangerfield Fudge, before the Eagles replied to cut the lead in half. The Lakers responded quickly, with four straight goals including a pair from Roebuck and singles from Jacob Anger and Bermanschlager. With the score 6-1 heading to the third, Essa responded with a pair but it wasn't enough as the celebrations began - the U13 Rep Shallow Lake Lakers are your OMHA Tier 3 champions!

The U13's will be participating in a short parade to the banquet this Saturday, leaving the Shallow Lake Community Church at 1:45 p.m.; heading downtown and up to the arena. See you there!
