Stanley Cup in Owen Sound
The Stanley Cup will be coming to Owen Sound on Tuesday, September 18th.

The appearance by the Stanley Cup in Owen Sound is part of the champions tour for the 2012 NHL Champions Los Angeles Kings.

As has become hockey tradition every member of the winning team gets a day with the Cup.

In the case of Kings Director of Amateur Scouting Mike Futa, his day with the Cup is scheduled for September 18th.

As part of his day, Futa will take the Stanley Cup to his parents home in Midland and then bring it to Owen Sound, the city where he operated as General Manager of the Owen Sound Attack.

Attack President Dr. Bob Severs relates that Mike Futa remains extremely grateful to the Attack organization and the City where he had his first major job in hockey.

While the details are not formalized, Dr. Severs anticipates the Stanley Cup will be showcased outside the Owen Sound City Hall in the parking lot between the Hall and the Farmer's Market.

The hours for the Stanley Cup showcase are tentatively set for 2:00 - 4:00 PM.

Because the Cup is in great demand among the Kings, Futa has to transport the Cup immediately from Owen Sound to the County of York to another Kings employee after its appearance in Owen Sound.

Another aspect of the Cup visit is to generate funds for the local Special Olympics.

Dr. Severs states nothing is official, but the Kings and the Attack are keen to partner with Special Olympics to raise funds by charging a small fee to have your photograph taken with the Cup.
