Lakers Move Into 3rd Place
The Laker Novice Rep head into the Christmas break sitting in 3rd place after a win over TCDMHA Rebels on Saturday.

The Lakers started the weekend off in Walkerton on Friday night against the 2nd place Walkerton Capitals. The Capitals would jump out to a 3-0 lead by the middle of the 2nd period before Jaxon Bisson put the Lakers on the board when he broke in alone and fired one stick side for his first of the game to cut the score to 2-1. Less than 2 minutes later Bisson would pick up his 2nd of the game on a nifty deak  to cut the lead to 1 and head to the 3rd down 3-2. The Capitals would make it 4-2 early in the 3rd and the Lakers wouldn't give up. With the Laker net empty Josh Edmonstone jumped on a loose puck in front of the Walkerton net and put the Lakers within 1 with less than 2 minutes to play. The Lakers would try for the equalizer but Walkerton would get one into an empty net to make it a 5-3 final. Laker goalie Jackson Kuhl was solid once again between the pipes for the Lakers.

The Lakers would fall behind 1-0 early in the first period but didn't let up and their hard work finally paid off.  Josh Edmonstone would take a pass from Kaleb Bartlett early in the 2nd and after beating the Rebel defense buried one high blocker side to tie the game at 1. The score stayed tied at 1 until part way thru the 3rd period when Jaxon Bisson would win a battle in the corner and feed a pass to Liam Thomas who made no mistake banging one home to put the Lakers on top. The Laker defense did a great job protecting the front of the Laker net and kept the Rebels scoring chance to a minimum. The Rebels would pull the goalie for the extra attacker but the Lakers held on for the 2-1 win. The Lakers next game is Jan 6th when the travel to Wiarton for a 4pm game.
