Bantam Reps advance with OT victory
Taylor sets up game winner in overtime as Lakers advance to 2nd round of OMHA playdowns

It certainly was fitting as captain Zac Taylor found himself in familiar territory this past Thursday night, controlling the play below the oppositions circles and spotting linemate Terran Hooey out in front of the net for a quick one-timer which drifted between the wickets of the Drayton Defenders goaltender with just 2:06 remaining in overtime, eliminating their feisty opposition and sending the Lakers to the 2nd round of the OMHA playdowns.

The Lakers won the series in 4 games, but trailed every single game in the 3rd period by a 2-1 margin, battling back to win 3 of those games, earning the reputation as the "Comeback Kids".

Game 4 was no exception,  as once again the Lakers pounded shot after shot against a stellar Drayton goaltender, but found themselves trailing 2-1 heading into the final frame.  However, as they displayed throughout the series they were not going to roll over for the opposition, as Kurtis Smith scored with just 2:30 left in regulation time.
Lakers goalie Will DeBoer made a big key save late in the game, sending the game into the first overtime period of the series.  With just 2:06 left on the clock in period #4 it was then that Taylor and Hooey hooked up for the OT victory.

Gutsy efforts displayed from the front end to the back end of this Lakers hockey club, whom must of learnt over this seasons journey what its like to go the other way, not to squander a lead in the 3rd period but to overtake it when necessary.  Lets hope momentum can carry through into round #2.

Congrats to all players from both Drayton and Shallow Lake for a great series of entertaining hockey.  Special mention to Will-Zac-Matthew and Alex, 6 years in the waiting....well done boys !!!!

The Lakers will now face TCDMHA in round #2.
