Lakers lose, tie, win in last 3 games
Lakers lose a close one, tie and get 1st regular season win

This 3 game report starts off with a home game vs a very strong TCDMHA squad.  This young Lakers team got behind early as the visitors jumped out to a quick 2-0 start, but rallied back strong in the 2nd period with 4 goals and trailed 5-4 heading into the 3rd.  Both teams buckled down with some good defence in the final frame with no goals being scored and a 5-4 victory for the visiting squad.  Shallow Lake goal scorers were Luke Grimoldby, Kaleb Sutherland, Zac Taylor and Alex Ryan.

The Lakers then travelled to Southampton for an exhibition game vs Saugeen Shores.  It was pretty much one sided for the most part as the boys outplayed their opposition, but ran into a very solid goaltender.  An excellent effort defensively and numerous chances offensively, however, it ended in a 1-1 tie as the home team got a lucky bounce off a Laker skate with 2 minutes left.  Terran Hooey scored the lone marker with a nice setup from Kaleb Sutherland.

Next action saw the Lakers facing Elma Logan at home.  It wasn't the brand of hockey that the Lakers displayed in the past 2 games, but they capitalized on their chances and walked away with their 1st regular season win with a convincing 5-0 victory.  Terran Hooey lead the way with a hat trick.  Luke Grimoldby and Alex Ryan added single markers.  Will DeBoer made the key saves between the pipes when needed, recording his 1st shutout of the season.

The Lakers attention to detail in the neutral zone along with some strong work down low in the opposition end has started to pay dividends as the boys have only allowed 1 goal in the past 7 periods played...."WELL DONE"
