After shaking off first period nerves the Lakers settled in and took notice.
Regular season is all in the past now, it's playoff time ! OMHA playdowns are here, and the table was set on Sunday afternoon as the Lakers began their first round series (best of 5) with Bruce Peninsula.
Off to a somewhat nervous and shaky start, the boys fought through the first period jitters after being down 1-0 early, battling back to tie up the score at a goal apiece heading into the second. As the Lakers settled in heading into period # 2 with a 4-1 lead, they knew Bruce Pen would not go away easy. Both teams battled it out hard to the end, with Shallow Lake prevailing by a 8-2 score.
Matthew Weiler, Ethan Boivin and Cole Waddell each netted a pair for the Lakers, with single tallies coming from Terran Hooey and Colin Kitto. Kaleb Sutherland gathered up 4 helpers, as Boivin chipped in with a pair.
The "TAX LINE" (better known as the "HST" line) in Marshall Hickson, Alex Simonato and Wesley Talon played a key checking role in enroute to a very successful day and a great start to the playoffs.
