On to the Championships!!
The Owen Sound Ledgerock Shallow Lake Lakers Atom LL #1 team faced a tough battle in the first round of play offs. With 2 games scheduled against the AEMHA Icedogs and 2 games scheduled against the Master’s Workbench Shallow Lake Lakers LL #2 team, our Lakers had to play like they have never played before.

The playoffs started out well with the Lakers taking an early lead against the AEMHA Icedogs at home on February 15, 2014. Oskar French Jones came out of the gate swinging and scored 2 goals early in the game. 1 unassisted, and 1 assisted y Kaiden Henrich. Jonathan Coffey then came through with the game winning goal assisted again by Kaiden Henrich. The AEMHA Icedogs fought back in the second period with a goal scored by Dylan McKinnon right off the bat! Darryl Blair answered with the next 2 goals of the game assisted by Jarrod Forest, Quintin Cardinal, and Jonathan Coffey. Late in the third period, Quintin Cardinal, Darryl Blair, and Jarrod Forest showed us what it looks like to work as a team and Quintin scored the 6th goal for the Lakers. The AEMHA Icedogs scored 1 final goal near the end of the game to bring the score to 6-2 for the Ledgerock Lakers. The win goes to Jimmy St. Marie for standing strong in net for the Lakers.

Game 2 of the playoffs on February 21, 2014 proved that Shallow Lake is a force to be reckoned with as the Owen Sound Ledgerock Lakers #1 team was defeated by the Master’s Workbench Lakers #2 team. The first period ended scoreless, but Lander Hartley got the shutout for the #2 team as they took a 2-0 win with goals scored in the second and third periods by Spencer Davidson and Josh Cassidy. Bennett Lines assisted with one of these goals and Jake Ross was there for them both.

Game 3 was a rematch of the two Shallow Lake teams with the win going the other way this time. The Master’s Workbench Shallow Lake Lakers LL #2 team came out fighting with the first goal scored early in the game by Jake Ross, helped along by Zach Palmer and Tyler McKee. The Owen Sound Ledgerock Shallow Lake Lakers #1 team answered this call with the next 2 goals scored by Darryl Blair and Quintin Cardinal. Jarrod Forest was there to assist with both of these goals and Dominic Eldred Wood and Darryl Blair each got an assist as well - bringing the score to a 2-1 lead for the Ledgerock Lakers. Jake Ross would not let this happen and came through for the Master’s Workbench Lakers late in the third period to bring the score to a 2-2 tie. Assists went to Spencer Davidson and Zach Palmer. This nail biting game continued into overtime where Darryl Blair sailed through unassisted and scored the game winning goal for the Ledgerock Lakers. 3-2 win for the #1 team!

The Owen Sound Ledgerock Lakers had an up hill battle in front of them as they entered game 4 of the series. This game was February 24, 2014 against the AEMHA Icedogs. The Lakers were faced with a points game on this day and had to pull through big time in order to advance to the championship round. To the amazement and delight of their fans, the Lakers came through and proved that they were a true team with an incredible 12-0 win against the AEMHA Ice dogs - securing their place in the championships. Goals for this game went to Darryl Blair with an unprecedented 5 goals, and Zach Deakins, Oskar French Jones, Wyatt Hickson, Quintin Cardinal, Jarrod Forest, Braden Grimoldby, and Anderson Kivell all added 1 goal. Assisting these goals were Jonathan Coffey, Quintin Cardinal, Jarrod Forest, Dominic Eldred Wood, Wyatt Hickson, Anderson Kivell, and Darryl Blair. Jimmy St. Marie showed up to play in net for the Ledgerock Lakers and walked away with the shut out.
